Report
of the Chairperson of the Governing Body to the Conference for the year
2004-05 | Tripartite
Meeting of Experts on the Fishing Sector as a follow-up to the first
discussion on the fishing sector held at the 92nd Session of the
International Labour Conference
| At the 92nd Session (June 2004)
of the International Labour Conference, the Committee on the Fishing
Sector called for consultations, through an appropriate mechanism,
between the end of that session of the Conference and the 93rd Session
(June 2005), to assist the Office with the development of the
provisions of the proposed Convention concerning accommodation on board
fishing vessels. As a result of this request, the Governing Body
agreed, at its June 2004 session, that the ILO should hold a Tripartite
Meeting of Experts on the Fishing Sector from 13 to 17 December 2004,
for the purpose of reviewing and formulating provisions on
accommodation and dealing with other pending issues identified by the
abovementioned Committee.
The Meeting of Experts was held under the auspices of the Sectoral Activities Programme.
An oral report of the Meeting was made to the Committee on Sectoral and Technical Meetings
and Related Issues in March 2005. The report of the Meeting has been included in Work in the
fishing sector, Report V(2A), for the 93rd Session of the Conference.
